DHWANI is a collection of performers, well acquainted and trained in the art of music. Although they are not professional musicians, they devote their time and effort to music as their first passion in life. DHWANI is a non-profit group, which performs for its great love for music. DHWANI in the ancient dialect of Hindi means "sound". However, this "sound" is not the ordinary sound but “internal sound”. According to the ancient Indian scriptures it is the Dhwani (sound) of Aumkara (OM) which produced life on earth as known to mankind. Several “ragas” or tone progressions in Indian classical music are named after this word. For example, ”Hamsa dhwani, Mangala Dhwani, Lalita dhwani”. It is this Dhwani or sound which guides you through life, providing the richness & flavor, making one’s life a happy and satisfying venture. The music performed by Dhwani is not only heard on the exterior but experienced inside, producing a monsoon of bliss, by the performers for the audience. The music is traditional North Indian music (Hindustani) flavored with rich vocals and instrumentation incorporating fusion influence as dictated by the North American (Canadian) residence of all the performers.
